When WJZ at 9 celebrated its third anniversary, K2 and Marty Bass revisited our top five coolest places we have taken you to, with the exception of one. And that was MITAGS the Maritime Institute of Technology and Graduate Studies. Frankly, it is the Johns Hopkins of seamanship study. It is recognized as the leader in its field worldwide. At that time MITAGS was rebuilding its multi-million-dollar simulator control room. Today it reopened and we were invited to not only come back but to let you see this upgrade to the best maritime simulator on Earth.
The final day of Ice Cream Truck Week finished up big. Marty Bass paid a visit to Taharka Brothers in Baltimore. In just a couple of years, Taharka Brothers will have been on the scene for 20 years. They have grown from a farmer’s market push cart to retailers coast to coast. Hard work pays off. And we had an interesting discussion about ice cream, sno-balls, and the frozen treat culture in Charm City.

Marty Bass visited the I Scream Truck in Sykesville, Maryland, for Ice Cream Truck Week. The business was started by two couples as a side gig. The location, which Marty calls the Ice Cream Park, has not only a truck but tables, corn hole, games and more. A family setting, if you will. I Scream is another truck that goes out into the community for booked appearances and food truck events!
Day three of Ice Cream Truck Week featured Quinn's Ice. The unique part of this story is that Quinn's is lactose-free. That is a big deal these days. Judging from the menu items they made for us, you would never miss the whole milk part of the frozen treat! Owned by two brothers, Quinn's Ice can be found at food truck events and can be booked for events. You can find them on Instagram for details.
The second day of Ice Cream Truck Week had Marty Bass at the Snack Shack Truck in Maryland. Started by a couple seven years ago, the "SST" makes appearances, through bookings, at events around the area. Featuring hand-dipped ice cream, or soft serve, the Snack Shack truck sells the classics of our youth. Things like Creamsicles, Ice Cream Sandwiches, Drumsticks, and more! What a great niche!
