The San Francisco 49ers have a bad defense this season, and part of the problem has been a lot of injuries. Not only did the 49ers lose the heart and soul of the defense (NaVorro Bowman) earlier this year to a season-ending injury, but linebacker Aaron Lynch has been absent for most of the season due to suspension and injury. The S.F. organization has not been able to fill this void, and Lynch is still questionable for Sunday's game in Chicago.
Sitting in the AFC West catbird's seat at 9-2, the Raiders hold a game lead over Kansas City (8-3), with a two-game edge on defending Super Bowl champion Denver (7-4). That said there is much to be decided before the end of the regular season in the evening hours of New Year's Day.
