For anyone living around the United Center, getting around has gotten complicated in recent days.
Chicago police say that a 21-year-old man was driving a white truck when a collision occurred with a black truck. Someone from the black truck then fired shots – striking the victim.
It happened just after 1 a.m. in the 500 block of South Damen Avenue on the Near West Side.
Final preparations are happening now for the Democratic National Convention in Chicago as delegates fly in from all over the country. For Democrats, excitement has been building for weeks, but the DNC also has caused some frustration for people who live close to the United Center.
The closures are leaving an impact to those on the West Side near the United Center, and in the South Loop by McCormick Place.
Security barriers are up near McCormick Place and the United Center, and some downtown businesses have boarded up in case of civil unrest. Jermont Terry reports.
