The Oak Park native was a proud Chicagoan who graduated from Saint Ignatius College Prep in 1947.
The first of his two popular sitcoms was set in Chicago and featured the city in the show's opening. Newhart was born in Oak Park and went to Saint Catherine for grade school, Saint Ignatius High, and Loyola University.
