One person is dead following a crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway Saturday night, according to Illinois State Police.

Two people are dead and five others are seriously hurt after a crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway Sunday morning.
The crash happened in northbound the express lanes near 47th Street around 2 a.m.
"It's an active area. It's sometimes not positively an active area," said Street Pastor Donovan Price. "As a result, there are things often - quite often."
The Dan Ryan was shut down at the scene, but traffic was still getting by on the right shoulder.

CPD tells us that a red car was speeding and crashed into a semi-truck.
For the first time in nearly a decade traffic is moving smoothly along the Jane Byrne Interchange Friday morning as the remaining ramps and lanes are now open.
"You're dropping the speed. You're trying to interface between Ida B. Wells, and basically the rest of the interstate system. It's a tall order."
Three people were transported to a local area hospital with injuries.
The victim has been identified as David Ponce De Leon of Blue Island.
Initial reports indicated the shooting may have started with an incident at the McDonald's at 36 W. 95th St.

The ramp was closed for over a week due to fire damage.
A permanent fix is expected to take several months.
A detour will take drivers from the outbound Dan Ryan to the exit for the inbound Stevenson to King Drive, where they can reenter the outbound Stevenson.
