The incident was reported at around 11:30 p.m. in the 8900 block of McNerney Avenue, just west of the 710 Freeway, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department investigators.
Police say that the passenger was hit in the leg by gunfire while getting dropped off in North Hills at around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The chase began when officers saw the suspect driving along the right shoulder of I-405.
