At 12:24 a.m., the 26-year-old was the passenger in a vehicle driving southbound in the 2300 block of West Arthur when two males on the sidewalk nearby opened fire, according to Chicago Police.
Simeon Barrientas, of the 1600 block of West Farwell, has been charged with a felony count of failure to report an accident causing a death and a misdemeanor count of driving having never been issued a license, police said. He was expected to appear in bond court Wednesday.
In both incidents, the victims were approached by a man who was armed with a handgun and announced a robbery, then took the victims' property, according to Chicago Police.
Most recently, three men were injured in a South Shore neighborhood shooting.
The most recent homicide happened Sunday afternoon in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side.
Police were warning CTA riders after three people were beaten and robbed as they left Red Line stations in Rogers Park.
