Police said around 4 a.m. Monday, the burglars smashed the front glass door of Sweet Café on Higgins Avenue near Nagle Avenue.
Police said five men were involved in the burglary, and they fled in a silver sedan.
Defense attorneys argued what happened was an "unfortunate accident" between "consenting adults."

The man was able to get into one house through an open window, walk around, and stole wallets and phones while the people slept.
