On Thursday, 12 Kane County jurors agreed that Maricela Arciga of Aurora wanted her ex-boyfriend dead, and that she paid a hit man to do it. That hit man was actually special agent David Gomez of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, who had been tipped-off about the murder for hire.
The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was sending seven more agents to Chicago, for a total of 52 agents helping stop the flow of illegal guns into the city.
Two men were hurt—one critically—in a drive-by shooting in the Rogers Park neighborhood. The men, 23 and 35, were in the 1500 block of West Farwell Avenue about 9:55 p.m. when someone in a dark-colored vehicle drove by and fired shots, police said.
