Police say on Aug. 10 a pedestrian was hit while crossing the street in the 1300 block of DuSable South Lakeshore Drive. The first car stopped, but the car sought was the second one that hit and killed the victim and did not stop.
Many people were also concerned about how the CPD would dedicate so much manpower to the DNC and still handle crime in the city. But Mayor Johnson and police Supt. Larry Snelling said everything worked out, as Megan Hickey reports.

Police say in each of the robberies. a dark blue Land Rover Discovery with IL plate DJ87261 drove up to the victims, and two men exited the vehicle armed with a handgun.

Chicago Police Supt. Larry Snelling announced 55 to 60 people were arrested Tuesday night, when members of an unsanctioned protest rally outside the Israeli Consulate in downtown Chicago clashed with police on the second night of the Democratic National Convention.
"Those police officers responded perfectly, and we've got body cam footage to prove it," Chicago Police Supt. Larry Snelling said of the response to the breach.
A flag was burned at the protest, and police confiscated protesters' wooden flagpoles and stakes, but there were no reports of injuries or destruction of property. Jermont Terry reports.
