Mild Stretch Of Weather...But Beware Of The Onshore Wind
Near record warmth is likely today with a big upper level ridge along the east coast providing sunshine with highs climbing into the 60's nearing 70.
Near record warmth is likely today with a big upper level ridge along the east coast providing sunshine with highs climbing into the 60's nearing 70.
High pressure in place across the mid Atlantic is pulling offshore and will begin to wrap in a breezy SW wind today and start the warm up with highs climbing into the 50's.
New England has the best chance for accumulating snowfall. Along and north of the Pike will likely be in the best snow growth regions for substantial accumulations..track dependent. If everything comes together just right... some areas could see up to 6 inches of snow or more...but let's just rest on this for now. It has not exactly been a good winter for snow storms.
Sunday: Sunny, Breezy and Cooler. Highs in the 30's near 40. NW 15-30 mph Sunday Night: Mostly clear, calm winds and cold. Some clouds increase overnight. Lows in the lwr 20's
A weak front is pushing through New England today. Temps have started in the Lwr-mid 30's...with plenty of sunshine, breezy WNW winds, highs will climb to 40-45 south of Boston, and remain in the upper 30's NW of the city. High clouds will be increasing from the south during the afternoon as a low tracks well south of the region.
Bright sunshine for Sunday with weak high pressure. Breezy west winds have been supplying cooler air this morning behind a departing front which moved through last night. This will make highs today a bit cooler from Saturday with temps this afternoon able to climb into the Lwr 40's. Still very nice for this time of year with temps running about 5-8 degrees above normal
A gorgeous Saturday morning will see increasing cloudiness by afternoon. Temps have started in the 30's and will be climbing into the mid-upper 40's by this afternoon with a mild west wind. Weak high pressure over us this morning will give way to an approaching front for the evening hours.
So far this winter most of our snow has been light or has occurred overnight, but this next round of snow will likely be our most substantial plowable snowfall we have seen since the October Nor'easter. Still, this will be no Nor'easter. Not even close.
Light SW winds will bring in unseasonal warmth into the 40's to near 50 this afternoon. Some cloudiness may try to sneak back in later this afternoon ahead of an approaching cold front which is currently back through the Great Lakes. This front will push through tonight with a few showers between 8 PM and 1 AM.
High pressure south of New England will provide a dry day for the region. A mid-level cloud deck in western New England with early dense fog in the Valleys. Some of these clouds are trying to spread eastward during the morning through afternoon. Sunshine will be most abundant at the coast. A mix of sun and clouds across the region today with highs in the upper 50's and lwr 60's.
High pressure is close enough to provide enough subsidence for some increasing PM sunshine across the north with skies becoming partly sunny. This stable sinking air should allow for some brightening to the skies this afternoon in the south as well...with more clouds south of the Pike closer to the front. Winds are extremely light today, but expect them to shift onshore this afternoon for a feeble onshore wind. This will keep it slightly cooler at the beaches in the mid 70's with many inland areas in the upper 70's and Lwr 80's, especially if we break into any period of sunshine...which I am expecting to develop this afternoon.
Plenty of sunshine out there today with high thin cirrus clouds drifting above our heads. A trough to our west will be pushing into the region this afternoon bringing a few thicker middle level clouds along with it. High pressure at the surface will keep us dry and cool with highs in the mid 60's for most. Winds will be light, so a PM seabreeze will keep temps mainly in the lower 60's at the beaches.
Winds are diminishing today as high pressure slides towards us, but the cooler air will continue to push into New England from Canada helping to keep highs around 60-65 degrees today with sun-filled skies. It should be in the mid 60's along the south coast, while most of us will remain in the Lwr 60's close to 10 degrees below normal for this time of year
A beauty of a day across New England with high pressure building in behind a backdoor front. This barely noticeable front will push off the coast this afternoon followed by a cooler NE wind for the afternoon. Mostly sunny skies with high clouds today. Highs in the 70's nearing 80 in the west. As winds shift east this afternoon a cooling seabreeze will help to keep temps mostly in the lwr 70's at the coast.
Morning stratus and low level fog is making for a hazy morning across the region...with more clouds west and southeast. Any Morning clouds will give way to increasing afternoon sunshine. SW winds with warm air aloft, along with hazy sun will allow temps to climb to the mid-upper 80's inland, mid 80's coast with 70's on the Cape.
High pressure to our south is wrapping in warm humid light SW winds and providing enough dry sinking air that much of the weekend will remain dry..but humid with highs in the mid-upper 80's...Near 80 on the Cape. As the high pulls off the coast Sunday, a better chance for more widespread scattered storms will develop late tomorrow in the west.
Clouds will continue to gradually increase and thicken through the weekend. While the coast should remain dry tomorrow, the risk inland for showers increases, especially once you get west of Worcester. The clouds and cool SE winds will keep temps in the 70's near 80. The warm spot will be NH and ME in the Lwr 80's. Only in the upper 60's and Lwr 70's where it will be raining out west.
Tracking a complex of rain and thunderstorms moving out of the Catskills. This will continue to spread clouds our way the rest of the evening. Most of the rain has waited for the evening hours...where is will be out west from 6 PM -9PM, then begin to shift east, Heaviest rain will be found after midnight. The column is loaded with moisture, so expect a few heavy downpours and maybe even some embedded thunder.
A warm and muggy night, but a cold front will push off the coast and drier air will move in overnight with clearing skies and lows in the 60's. Tuesday will be a warm, but less humid day. There will be plenty of sun in the morning, but cooler air aloft supplied by an upper level low over us will keep the air unstable. Expecting building PM clouds with the potential for a spot shower or thunderstorm. Breezy WNW will warm the coastal plain with many areas climbing into the mid-upper 80's
Monday will be a hot and more humid day with hazy sunshine and scattered afternoon storms. Most areas will reach near 90 degrees.
Morning Low clouds are thinning and breaking for some increasing midday and afternoon sunshine. Low clouds linger a bit longer at the coast...especially on the Cape. West winds along with increasing hazy sun will give a warm muggy to feel to the air this afternoon with highs climbing into the 70's and Lwr 80's. Light winds will mean a seabreeze at the coast
Highs will climb into the Lwr 80's with a warm humid feel. We are tracking a shortwave which will be pushing south into New England. A cold front will push through the region during the afternoon and likely fire up some scattered convection in the form of a few showers or thunderstorms. The best chance of these showers and storms will be around 2 PM-6 PM before exiting the coast tonight.
Morning sunshine with SW winds will give temps a boost well into the 60's and lwr 70's for highs today. Clouds will begin to build with the heating of the day. Expect widespread scattered showers and thunderstorms to develop this afternoon with lightning, small hail, gusty winds and downpours.
After a showery and breezy start it is going to start to get mighty interesting around here for the next few hours. The tornado outbreak is finally coming to an end, but upper level winds are steering that energy, and moisture up the east coast in the form of thunderstorms.
We will be tracking that ribbon of rain and snow currently pushing into the Great Lakes. That is the warm front or the leading edge of the warm air mass that is beginning to spread eastward. By dawn tomorrow, the precipitation will be arriving at the coldest point of the day around sunrise.
