Police Chase Ends In Violent Three-Car Crash

Two people were killed overnight, when a stolen car struck a tree in south suburban Park Forest. The driver was arrested after fleeing the scene.

About 8:30 p.m., a Mazda sedan was pulling out from a parking lot at the southeast corner of Hickory Street and Western Avenue in Joliet when it struck a westbound Hyundai on Western. The impact sent the vehicles to the northwest corner of the intersection, where Joliet resident Mark A. Cipolla was standing.
CTA spokesman Brian Steele said a car passed the bus and tried to make a right turn as the bus pulled away from the curb. Steele said there was minor damage to both vehicles.
Firefighters responded to the four-story building near 14th Street and Western Avenue at 7:23 p.m., Fire Media spokesman Jeff Lyle said. The fire was found below the building's dock area.
Michael Campbell, now 29, pleaded guilty to one count each of aggravated criminal sexual assault and aggravated kidnapping, and was sentenced by Cook County Judge Charles Burns, according to the Cook County state's attorney's office.
