Police Chase Ends In Violent Three-Car Crash

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A high-speed police pursuit overnight ended in a violent three-car crash on the South Side.

The incident happened at 59th and Western when a van, which was being followed by police officers, slammed into two other vehicles.

Five people were sent to the hospital.

Police say officers witnessed somebody in the van fire a gun at someone at Kedzie and Lake.

Police followed the van for nearly eight miles, before the crash.

Four people are in custody.

Nobody was injured by the gunfire.
