Facing withering criticism for a series of offensive texts about women and his colleagues, Ald. Jim Gardiner on Friday called to apologize to at least one of his targets, Ald. Scott Waguespack, sources told CBS 2.
"Obviously, I'm deeply disappointed. I've known Tom Tunney for 25-plus years, I consider him a friend, and he understands what he did was absolutely wrong," Lightfoot said.
The amount of the fine Ald. Tom Tunney (44th) faces will be determined at an administrative hearing, but could total up to $10,000.
The alderman did not specify how many customers he has allowed to be served inside in defiance of the indoor dining ban, or how often.
"We're excited to be playing baseball again. It's good to be back on the field, even without fans in the ballpark," Cubs executive vice president Mike Lufrano said.
"It's not the questions that are the problem, it is the content of the questions, and the offensive nature of the tone and the questions and the 'concerns,' – in quotes – that were expressed," she said.
The Cubs still won't be able to open Gallagher Way to people who don't have a ticket on the days of games or concerts.
Tunney wasn't willing to relax the rules regarding how many non-game events the team could host, or how late they could keep Gallagher Way open after games, concerts, or festivals.
