The game begins with a $10,000 jackpot and grows with each ticket sold until the prize is won.
The tickets for Wednesday's midday drawing were sold at Navkar Food Inc. at 69 W. Washington St. in Chicago and Mariano's at 3025 E. New York St. in Aurora.
The station will receive a one-percent bonus of the prize amount, or $6,000, for selling the winning ticket.
The next Powerball drawing is Monday night, with an estimated jackpot of $230 million.
The ticket, worth $3,188,104, was purchased on Thursday, February 20, at Komal Wine and Liquor on Chicago's northwest side, near O'Hare airport, at 4628 N. Cumberland Ave.
The business, the Headline Newsstand, located inside the lobby of 2 N. LaSalle Street, sold the ticket for the Thursday, Jan. 30 midday drawing.
The winner, nicknamed "Hard-Working Husband," played the Ultimate Diamond Jackpot game through the lottery app, he said, while they watched one of their favorite shows, getting caught off guard when he realized he had won.
DuPage County prosecutors said the man convinced a 7-Eleven clerk to let him get warm inside the store, then stole $730 in scratch-off tickets when the clerk later went into the back cooler.
According to lottery officials, the game had three $10 million top prizes, two of which were purchased last year.
The winning ticket was sold for the Saturday, Dec. 21 drawing at the Jewel-Osco store at 800 North Avenue in Melrose Park.
The store will receive a one-percent bonus of the prize amount, or $10,000, for selling the winning ticket.
