Preston was killed early on Saturday, May 6, during a robbery outside her home in the Avalon Park neighborhood.
Preston, who was killed during an attempted robbery last week, was to receive her master's degree in jurisprudence during today's commencement.

The incident Thursday afternoon sent several police units rushing to the scene.
Areanah Preston, 24, was shot around 1:42 a.m. on Saturday in the 8100 block of South Blackstone Avenue in the Avalon Park neighborhood.
No one was hit by the gunfire.
While on probation for robbery, he was arrested multiple times for weapons offenses, armed robbery and having a stolen car.
