And Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson addresses the RNC months after he made national headlines when he switched from the Democratic to the Republican Party.
Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker says she's excited to hear the Republican platform includes a plank about keeping American cities clean and safe. Parker told political reporter Jack Fink, "If that's a platform they're going to take seriously...I would love to work with that administration to do that."
Calls for Biden to drop out of the presidential race continue. Jack Fink asks Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins where he stands on the topic.
Former President Donald Trump said he would only talk about his very public near-death experience once because it was too painful to tell. He thanked the Secret Service members who jumped on him to protect him and said God was on his side. Trump said while on the ground, he could see how concerned his supporters were, which led to a moment many of them have said they will never forget.
Gov. Abbott and two Texas Representatives also gave speeches on day 3 of the RNC.
Harris also announced a new national health and safety standard for new mothers.
Miller said the former President had more than luck on his side.
After the President's highly criticized performance during the June 27 debate, Congressman Lloyd Doggett, D-Austin, called on Mr. Biden to step aside, and he has repeated that.
In a sit-down with Dallas County GOP Chair, Retired Lt. Col. Allen West, Jack asked about Project 2025 and whether it's better for Republicans if President Biden stays in the race or exits.
"We really have to listen to the people, we have to listen to voters," said Kardal Coleman, the Chair of the Dallas County Democratic Party.
Jack spoke with three North Texas Republicans, Rosalie Escobedo of Tarrant County, Michael Padilla of Collin County and Troy Jackson of Dallas County, who are serving as delegates to the Republican National Convention. They talked about the message they hope to hear and weighed in on whether Biden should stay in the race or bow out.
