West Orange fire officials have not confirmed the victims' identities or relationship, but neighbors say an older couple lived there with their cat for at least two decades.
The FDNY was called just before 2 a.m. Tuesday about a fire burning on East 212th Street.
Officials told CBS New York the blaze started in a vacant home, and spread quickly to three others.
Police said the flames started at around 11:30 a.m. in a residential building on Summer Avenue, and then spread to two homes.
Both officers shot in East Lansdowne are expected to survive, and six members of the Le family are unaccounted for, Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said.

The flames broke out just before 11 p.m. inside a two-story home on 66th Avenue in Rego Park.
