Firefighters responded to a three-unit apartment building in the 1700 block of 119th Street in Whiting, Ind., about 3 a.m., Whiting Fire Chief Gus Danielides said. The woman living in the apartment, thought to be in her 60s, was found right outside the rear door leading to the fire escape.
