In 2021, Jon Wertheim reported on the Ritchie Boys, a secret U.S. intelligence unit who fought in World War II. Many were German-born Jews who fled their homeland before being sent back to Europe to fight Nazism. One of the last surviving members, Guy Stern, died earlier this month at the age of 101.
