Crews battle fire in Sepulveda Basin, forcing lane closure

One lane of Burbank Boulevard was closed as crews battled the pair of small blazes.
Crews on Wednesday afternoon knocked down a small brush fire that was burning along a hillside in the Beverly Crest area.
Police identified the man as 51-year-old Shawn Justin Towne.
The teams come from the Los Angeles County, Riverside City, and Orange County Fire Departments, as well as Menlo Park in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Community leaders suggested starting a $500,000 emergency relief fund for local businesses that are struggling to staff their stores and restaurants.
In a statement, Dignity Health Glendale Memorial Hospital said it cannot legally restrict law enforcement from waiting areas and lobbies.
The iconic restaurant and bar cited the Covid-19 pandemic, crime, rising labor, goods and rent costs for the closure.
Mayor Karen Bass said the operation was part of President Trump's "political agenda."
No injuries were reported, and the damage sustained to the shop is unclear.
No arrests were made as of Monday morning.
The National Weather Service says rip currents have caused an "increased risk of ocean drowning."
23-year-old Jurupa Valley resident Bryan Cruz-Arenas was arrested after the crash, authorities said.
The relay was planned to pass through immigrant communities, such as Chinatown, Koreatown, and Boyle Heights.
