Investigators announced a major breakthrough in a decades old cold case on Tuesday, linking the 1986 killing of 19-year-old Cathy Small to William Suff, a serial killer previously convicted of 12 murders.
The victims were carrying large amounts of cash or had recently come into a substantial amount of money, according to court documents.
The shootings came on the same day Los Angeles officials announced they believed a serial killer was responsible for the killings of three homeless men in their city.
