Clover Fire in Alta Sierra burns structure, prompts evacuation order after spreading to grass

An evacuation order and warning have been issued for the Clover Fire burning near the Alta Sierra area in Nevada County on Friday afternoon.

Nevada County Consolidated Fire said they were responding to a fire in the area of Clover Valley Road and Fay Drive for a well-involved structure fire that spread to grass. 

Cal Fire NEU is also responding to the fire, saying it's estimated to be 12 acres. Crews also reported a fast rate of spread and structures were threatened.

Clover Fire evacuation information

The Nevada County Sheriff's Office said that zone NCO-E048 is under an evacuation order. People in this zone, which is located just east of the Alta Sierra Country Club, should evacuate now.

In an update, the sheriff's office said zone NCO-E050 is under an evacuation warning after previously saying it was under an order. 

A temporary evacuation point was established at Magnolia Intermediate School on Kingston Lane in Grass Valley. Students who were evacuated from Alta Sierra Elementary were taken to Magnolia, the sheriff's office said. 

A temporary evacuation shelter was established for animals at the Nevada County Horseman on Bubbling Wells Road. 

Rainbow Road at Carrie Drive and Clover Valley Road at Brewer Road are closed to traffic.

More than 1,400 Pacific Gas and Electric customers in the Alta Sierra area are without power.
