About 6:50 p.m. Saturday, officers responding to a call of a shots fired in the 9600 block of South Green Street found 18-year-old Bernard Pippen lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the neck, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The unidentified officer was conducting an investigation in the 5700 block of South Peoria around 6:30 p.m. Friday when he accidentally discharged his weapon. He was struck in leg, police said.
