An off-duty sheriff's deputy fatally shot a person during an armed robbery in northwest suburban Elgin on Monday.
"We are here to say emphatically, this is enough. It's enough. When this reckless violence ravages across our city at this magnitude, we are losing a piece of the soul of Chicago," Mayor Brandon Johnson said.
CRED, which stands for Create Real Economic Destiny, was founded by former Chicago Public Schools head Arne Duncan.
