I-80 westbound was shut down at La Grange Road after the shooting.
The shooting took place on the I-80 westbound entrance to I-355 in New Lenox.
Traffic was getting by on the center lane after the crash, state police said.
Injuries were reported on the pileup on Interstate 80 east of Wolf Road.
