It certainly seems like it's rained a lot this month and while we have had two good sized rain events, we actually are running slightly below normal for rainfall in the month of November. That's about to change with another soaking on the way. This time around this wave will be a quick mover, in in the evening out in the morning. There is enough moisture and just enough forcing for some lighter rain or showers to break out ahead of the main slug.
It's probably going to be the best day of the Fall...OK maybe just a top 5...regardless it's going to be great! Sunshine will be abundant once again with a few wisps of cirrus overhead. Temperatures will be even warmer in the 60-65 degree range with a light NE breeze...too bad sunset is around 4:30PM.
Pretty simple going forward here...finally sunshine has returned and it will stay out for days. Perfect timing as we get into the weekend. Our next chance for rain won't arrive until early next week in the form of a few showers with the passage of a front. But a bigger rainmaker looks likely middle of next week.
The stacked low continues to creep...at a snails pace...to the east. The heavy rain is gone it has shifted offshore but the clouds are still pesky and overhead especially in southeastern areas. That cloud canope will continue to work south and east and while most of it will be gone tomorrow, we still will have to deal with the cyclonic flow...this will lead to an unstable airmass for Coastal regions and much of SE Mass. Therefore look for cumulus to develop in the morning as convective temp will be attained in those areas for at least the first half of the day.
OK snow lovers that was a little taste...just a nibble for you...many woke up to a slushy coating this morning. The atmosphere has been warming this evening and will continue to do so, so the frozen precip is about over. A 996mb stacked low pressure center is located about 100 miles south of the Mid-Cape right now and is beginning to drift away to the south and east.
The baroclinic zone spinning up all of those lows has shifted slightly farther offshore this evening giving us a break from the rain. For most the break will be an extended one that last the entire weekend but a few will have to deal with raindrops later in the day on Saturday. Those wet spots will be confined to the Cape and the Islands while the rest of us will see some clouds overhead and the deeper you go into New England the sunnier it will be.
So far we've recieved around 1 inch of rain but we are not done yet and there are multiple waves of moisture streaming up the East Coast. The question will they work back into New England and if so how far west?
The average date of the first frost in Boston is November 7th...it happened this morning...Boston slipped to 32 degrees at 6:04 AM. Some towns were in the teens at sunrise...Norwood 18 and Taunton 19! Tonight won't be as bad as last night, we have pretty good cooling conditions right now and we will dip into 30s before temps level out as clouds arrive overnight.
Welcome to a new month...November...one of my least favorite months of the year. Usually a gray and raw month the outlook for the first few days are promising with lots of sun, add to that some lingering rusty foliage and I kind of like it! I'm even willing to overlook the nearly 10 degree below normal temps...I see it now as refreshingly crisp!
