The countdown to our first measurable snowfall in Boston in over a month is now on.
That storm is currently 3500 miles away, raining on Southern California right now, and will drop a stripe of snow from one coast to the other later this week. The storm will be stretched and drawn out and will deliver us rounds of precip Wednesday evening through Thursday night.
The first part of this storm, the wind, was a disappointment the next two parts will not be.
50s, thunderstorms and hail today...30s, snow and sleet tomorrow...gotta love New England
57...that was the high for the day and it occurred at 2:38PM. Although it was so warm today, we didn't even come close to the record high which was 66 set back in 1997.
A few showers of both rain and snow are passing through tonight...this is a sign of warmer air working in.
School vacation week has gotten off on a chilly note...the high today was 41 but it was a cold 41 thanks to the gusty wind. We are, however, about to see another bout of Spring-like temperatures for the entire rest of the week.
Congrats, you made it into the 50 degree club again...the 14th time this Winter!
It felt, smelt and sounded like Spring today...I could have sworn those were Spring songbirds chirping away this morning.
Mild conditions will continue over the next few days and an unorganized system will slide through tomorrow night and Friday morning with rain for most and some higher elevation snow for others.
We climbed out of the "deep" freeze today with a high of 44 degrees, 6 degrees above where we should be. Temps will continue to warm tomorrow and beyond as weak southerly flow continues to transport in milder than normal temps.
The weekend's bitter blast is already retreating...after morning lows in the teens, highs this afternoon reached 40+. Much of this week will be on the mild side too as our Winter-less Winter lives on.
Windows down, rowers on the Charles and golfers on the links...incredible Spring-like weather took grip of the Northeast today. Boston had a high of 50 degrees making it the 13th time we achieved that feat this Winter! Hard to believe that we will be trading in the gold clubs for cross-country skis tomorrow...but we will!
Another incredible "Winter" with a high in the upper 40s, plenty of sun and nearly windless conditions...one of the best of this Winter in my opinion. Tomorrow we get another gem with very warm temps near 50, mostly sunny skies and manageable wind...do enjoy!
A storm system is developing to our south right now and moisture is expanding into the Northeast as a result.
The cold will be on the move over the next week...sometimes toward us and sometimes away from us...but one thing is for sure, a taste of true Winter cold will be felt by the weekend.
Boston touched 50 degrees for the 13th time this Winter...to date, we only di that feat three times last year!
This should be one of the busiest weeks of the Winter in terms of tracking snowstorms but not a one is in sight...unless you consider the one in Denver! But seriously, there is very little linkage with the Northern and Southern streams of the jet so despite seeing cold enough air for snow there isn't moisture to produce it.
The cold has returned and when I say cold, I use it loosely.
Another gem of a day in the middle of Winter...this is becoming old hat! Many towns touched 60 and joined the 60 degree club, Boston just missed it with a high of 59 making today the second warmest day of the Winter behind the 60 back on January 7th.
Tomorrow is February 1st and the average high temperature is 37 degrees...the high will be more like 55...that's the average high for April 13th! Enjoy another taste of Spring.
The weather office dug up an amazing stat today...Boston has been above freezing since 5AM last Thursday! Incredible when you think about it, but the streak ends tonight...and very shortly I might add.
The soaking Winter storm is heading into the Pine Tree State, AKA Vacationland, AKA The Way Life Should Be, AKA Maine. But it left behind over an inch of rain for many. Drier air is working into Western New England and will progress east through the evening leading to clearing skies and colder conditions. With all the rain and lingering standing water black ice will be an issue in most locals by morning...watch your step!
Our latest Winter Storm is rolling in but it will be more like a Spring storm for most with heavy rain and very warm air.
Another Spring-like day (when the sun shined) with highs in the low to mid 40s, Boston's high was 43 just before 12:30PM. Keep in mind these are supposed to be the coldest days of the year with daytime highs in the mid 30s and overnight lows in the 20s...we won't experience anything like that until early next week!
