With the tentative deal reached with Ford, the UAW will now be able to use it to model similar contract settlements with GM and Stellantis.
It has taken a few weeks for autoworkers at the Arlington plant to be called onto the picket lines in what's being called a "stand up strike."
"Pay up, that's all we're asking for," said GM worker Mike Janik. "We just want a decent wage, that's all we're looking for."
The UAW has expanded its strike again, and called 5,000 members at one of General Motors' most profitable plants to join the strike.
General Motors is the first Michigan automaker to report earnings since thousands of autoworkers went on strike.
This should be "Ford and the UAW versus Toyota, Honda and Tesla — and all the Chinese companies that want to enter our home market," Bob Ford said.
Companies that supply auto parts to Detroit's Big Three have also laid off hundreds of employees in recent weeks.
President Biden said the UAW "saved the auto industry back in 2008," and should reap the benefits of profits now.
Roanoke and Carrollton workers are now on strike, asking for higher pay and better benefits.
One week into the UAW strike, the union now targeting parts and distribution centers.
