Change in plans

After an "extensive, months-long review," President Obama has decided to slow the pace of the planned 2016 U.S. troop drawdown from Afghanistan, senior administration officials tell CBS News correspondent Margaret Brennan.

Not satisfied yet

Conservative House Republicans may have succeeded in pushing John Boehner out of power, but their wish list for how things should be run under new leadership is ambitious. CBS News spoke with some of the lawmakers about what they're looking for in a new leader.

Concern continues

Former NBA star Lamar Odom reportedly is showing small signs of improvement, but there is new information that he may have used cocaine in the days before he was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel. "Entertainment Tonight" co-host Kevin Frazier reports from outside Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center in Las Vegas, where Odom is being treated.

Keeping tabs

Some businesses in Georgetown, an upscale Washington, D.C. neighborhood, are accused of racial profiling via a mobile app. Shopkeepers are using a private messaging service to alert each other -- and police -- about people acting suspiciously in their stores. The vast majority of the reports are about black customers. CBS News correspondent Jeff Pegues reports on the controversial tracking method.

Rich get richer

The middle class in North America has an unusually small slice of the economic piece compared with peers in other parts of the world. But inequality isn't confined to this continent -- the richest 1 percent now own half the world's financial assets.

Ratcheting up

The revised SAT college entrance exam, set to roll out next March, is expected to be considerably harder than previous versions. So much so, in fact, that experts advise high school students to skip it and, if possible, take the alternative ACT test.

No easy answers

Few employers offer health insurance for retirees, leaving most Americans to depend on Medicare for health insurance once their careers end. But that still requires people to make tough choices that affect what the federal program covers and how much it costs.

Overcoming adversity

Joe Martel III walks on two prosthetic legs. Yet, he plays football for his high school team in Beggs, Oklahoma -- and is a constant source of inspiration for his teammates.

Together again

Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are joining forces for the fourth time as actor and director in the Cold War drama, "Bridge of Spies." "CBS This Morning" co-host Gayle King spoke to them about their winning partnership.

One who knows

Producer/director Jack Osbourne learned he had multiple sclerosis in 2012, and soon after, the TV personality decided to turn his diagnosis into an informational campaign for other MS patients and their families. Its name? "You Don't Know Jack About MS."
