"I was very impressed with our workman-like attitude today," coach Mark Dantonio said. "If something negative happened, we just lined up and played."
This is an opportunity for the Badgers to show they're the team to beat in the Big Ten West and that their 8-5 record in 2018 was a one-year blip.
Mark Dantonio will have to wait a bit for his next milestone after the last couple minutes went terribly wrong for Michigan State.
"We've got a confidence level," Spartans coach Mark Dantonio said. "I think that we've been a confident football team, especially on the defensive side of the ball. You know, went a little bit back and forth, obviously had a lot of injuries last year, but big step this past week."
Dantonio won his 109th game for the Spartans, matching Duffy Daugherty's mark. Michigan State (2-0) looked a lot sharper on offense than in its opener against Tulsa. The Spartans scored touchdowns on their first three drives. Elijah Collins finished with 192 yards on 17 carries.
"I think our guys will have motivation this week," the Spartans' coach said. "What do you think?"
"Football is a game of effort, toughness and knowing what to do. Half of our team figured that out, half of it didn't," Dantonio said Tuesday. "We will make sure that other half gets it figured out this week."
