It remained unclear exactly what happened at the mall to prompt the lockdown Tuesday afternoon. Marissa Sulek reports.
While people were back inside the stores and restaurants at the mall at 4 p.m., Skokie police were still investigating the incident that might have involved a gun. Marissa Sulek reports.
Finally just before 8 p.m., CBS News Chicago witnessed the man being tackled by law enforcement and removed from the courthouse lobby on a stretcher.
The man fell to the ground during some sort of struggle as agents swarmed around him, after a nine-hour standoff.
The building was placed on lockdown shortly after 11 a.m., the FBI confirmed. The U.S. Marshals said a man armed with a knife tried to get past security in the building, but was stopped before he could. Noel Brennan reports.
The technology is built into the badges all school staff members carry with them every day.
Aurora police have not provided any details on the investigation at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Aurora – Naperville.
The threat was deemed not to be credible and the Capitol later reopened.
Investigators said there was no evidence of a credible threat.
