A new citation has been issued against the developer involved in a botched power plant smokestack demolition last month, which sent a blanket of dust over Little Village.
He attributes the high numbers to aggressive testing and a largely working-class population that has stayed on the job during the pandemic.
Particulate matter is made up of dust, dirt, soot or smoke mixed with liquid droplets found in the air, causing aggravated asthma, decreased lung function among other respiratory problems.
"We have no reason to believe the implosion emitted additional toxic materials into the surrounding community," CDPH Commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady said.
In Little Village on Sunday, community members marched and demanded to know the results of an air quality test after a smokestack implosion.
