State lawmakers want to make sure atrocities such as those documented at a group home in downstate Charleston never happen again.
Swift action is being taken after a CBS 2 investigation revealed years of abuse at a group home was not stopped until a Joliet man was murdered. CBS 2's Dave Savini has the new effort to create legislation that would protect the people who can not protect themselves.
Paul McCann was viciously beaten in January while living at a group home for the developmentally disabled, even though state regulators knew the history of problems at the facility. 2 Investigator Dave Savini reports.
"I didn't know where anything was. I didn't know where to check out, who I needed to talk to get what I needed to do."
An estimated 30,000 people are expected to attend the fair.
