About 9 p.m., a 22-year-old man and two other people were yelling at each other at J.C. Ehlert Park near Congress Park and Elm avenues, according to a statement from Brookfield police. One of the other people then shot him in the back.
Just before 8 p.m., a 45-year-old woman was walking with the boy in a stroller and a girl on foot near Gertrude and Morgan streets, according to a statement from Elgin police. An unmarked white cargo van made a U-turn and pulled up to them, and a man got out and tried to take the boy.
A man and woman were standing outside about 12:15 a.m. in the 10200 block of South State Street when someone got out of a white vehicle and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said. The vehicle then drove away.
