The "tentative" deal reached with the Chicago Teachers Union would mean pre-kindergarten, cluster students and kindergarten through eighth grade students would return to classrooms.
Negotiations continued Saturday between the Chicago Public Schools and the Chicago Teachers Union over concerns about a return to in-person learning and COVID-19 transmission – but there had been no resolution as of the evening.
"We expect a response from CTU leadership today," Lightfoot said.
