Matt Zahn joined CBS News Chicago in October of 2016 as a sports reporter and fill-in sports anchor, and what a time to come to Chicago. Matt arrived just as the Cubs won the World Series.
Matt has covered many other great sporting events in his career including The Masters, the Super Bowl, the Rose Bowl, and the College Football Playoff.
Prior to joining the team, Matt worked in Augusta, Ga., as the sports director at the local ABC station WJBF. He hosted and produced their award-winning Masters Report and Football Friday Night programs.
Matt is originally from Wisconsin where he also started his broadcast career in Wausau before moving on to Madison. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay after growing up in the small town of Rosendale, about an hour north of Milwaukee.
Matt lives in the western suburbs with his wife and three young children.
Head coach Matt Eberflus continued to say quarterback Justin Fields is doubtful and wouldn't rule out surgery on his dislocated thumb.
"He is a freakish athlete that nobody knows about," said Bagent's college head coach, Ernie McCook.
While quarterback Justin Fields has been driving the offense exactly where he wants the last two weeks, a couple skill players have missed out on the surge in production.
The offense will try to build off back-to-back breakout performances as left guard Teven Jenkins also prepares for a full return from his injury.
Head coach Billy Donovan wouldn't commit to White starting the team's second preseason game on Thursday.
The Bears might get a boost on the offensive line with Teven Jenkins healing well, but the secondary will remain thin for Thursday night's game.
Getsy pointed to all 11 players on offense needing to be better, not just quarterback Justin Fields.
The Bears returned to practice determined and focused. That's the message as they try to keep together during the longest losing streak in franchise history.
It was a brutal end to a dismal week of distractions for the Bears
Poles also reaffirmed his confidence in Matt Eberflus as the coach of the Bears and said he's done a great job, and he has faith in him as a defensive playcaller.
Rumors had been swirling surrounding the resignation of defensive coordinator Alan Williams, who had missed their previous game.
Fields has had a rough start to his third season. He said on Wednesday he's felt robotic and has not been playing like himself.
Williams, in his second season as Chicago's defensive coordinator, missed last week's game at Tampa Bay after working the opener against the Green Bay Packers.
Still, offensive coordinator Luke Getsy said the offense did a lot of good things on Sunday.
Both Fields and Eberflus acknowledged one big area that needs improvement: downfield passing.
