As Kennedy Expressway construction begins, drivers urged to seek other options
A new construction project has now begun, and it will close two lanes of the busy expressway at a time for repairs.

The Illinois Department of Transportation said the Kennedy will be under construction for three years.
Surveillance video shows both vehicles blew through stop signs at 116th and Racine.
According to Illinois State Police, a blue car was parked in the right northbound lane at milepost 49 around 11:40 p.m.
The officer was responding to a domestic incident in which a suspect was allegedly chasing a woman with a gun.
Police said the pursuit continued throughout city streets, the Dan Ryan Expressway and Lake Shore Drive.
The victim was not struck. The would-be robber was shot in the leg.
The Environmental Protection Agency has been testing the air and water near the plant.
The FAA ordered airlines to pause all domestic departures until 9 a.m. Eastern Time, 8 a.m. Central Time.
