The fire was located in south Nevada County near Highway 49 and Combie Road, Cal Fire said.
The Monterey County Sheriff's Office said the suspect, a man from Pismo Beach, was caught on surveillance video running over a Flock Safety camera.
Around 3 p.m., officers were on patrol near Market and Jones streets when police say they heard gunshots. The patrolling officers began investigating and soon found someone who had been shot and was seriously injured.
Just before 4 p.m., officers tried to pull over a vehicle near Thornton Road and West Hammer Lane. Police did not say what led to the traffic stop, but the driver refused to stop and led officers on a chase.
Officers heard gunshots just before 3 p.m. while on patrol near Market and Jones streets and soon found a person who had been shot, police said.
A vegetation fire in Sonora prompted evacuations Monday afternoon, the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office said.
