The Broncos meet the winless Raiders in Oakland Sunday, a week after Denver was trounced by the Patriots.
The Denver Broncos are coming off a loss, and that means bad news for the winless Oakland Raiders. Peyton Manning loves to dissect a bad defense, and that's what he's prepping to do right now—leaving the Silver & Black on the spot for Sunday's game at the Coliseum against the defending AFC champs.
The Oakland Raiders dropped to 0-8 on the season, dropping a 30-24 decision on the road to the Seattle Seahawks. The Silver & Black had a chance with an onside kick, but they couldn't recover it. They were doomed in the first half by several mistakes that led to a 21-point deficit at halftime, and now the team must regroup—again.
Back in the calendar year of 1984, a whopping 30 years ago now, the then-Los Angeles Raiders and the Seattle Seahawks played two memorable AFC playoff games. The first in January 1984 saw the Raiders beat the Seahawks, and the second in December 1984 saw the tables turned as Seattle knocked out the defending Super Bowl champions.
The 0-7 Oakland Raiders travel to Seattle this weekend to take on the defending Super Bowl champions. And while the 4-3 Seahawks have already lost as many games as they did all of last year, they still are an opponent never to be taken lightly on their home field. Of course, the winless Silver & Black can't take any team lightly these days as they look to snap a 13-game losing streak dating back to last season.
In their second straight win against a quality opponent, the Broncos beat the San Diego Chargers 35-21 in Denver Thursday night.
The Broncos take firm control of the AFC West with a win over the Chargers on Thursday Night Football.
The Chargers and the Broncos have something more on their minds than the epic fantasy battle that is at hand when they meet in Denver Thursday night.
The two best teams in the AFC West face off on Thursday night when the 5-2 Chargers visit the 5-1 Broncos. Peyton Manning will look to extend his lead in the career touchdown category in a match-up of top-tier quarterbacks—Philip Rivers is behind only Manning and Aaron Rodgers in passer rating this season.
In the modern NFL, only four teams have gone through a winless season: the 1960 Dallas Cowboys, the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the 1982 Baltimore Colts and the 2008 Detroit Lions. If the Raiders can't win this weekend in Cleveland, they could be looking at an 0-11 start—and that's when the pressure will start to mount. Avoiding membership in this exclusive club will be paramount for the Silver & Black.
Jim Nantz...he's known as one of the most iconic voices and faces in the history of professional sports, and he took some time to speak on the upcoming "Thursday Night Football" game between the San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos.
The 49ers couldn't compete with Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos Sunday night, losing 42-17. The game started with a 49ers three and out followed by a Bronco's touchdown drive.
Overall, the Oakland Raiders played a solid game against one of the best teams in the NFL for the second week in a row. But the Silver & Black still don't have a win in 2014, and that falls on the defense again. The offense is showing life; the defense just is painful to watch every time out.
The 49ers played one of the AFC's best and lost big. They played an elite team and didn't play well, so San Francisco was blown out. However, it's just one loss and one that is no surprise at the end of the day.
San Francisco has a lot of players on their injury report, but the biggest is Patrick Willis. The 49ers will hope the defense can play well without him, and hope that the secondary holds up. On the other side of the ball the Broncos have to be elated with their injury report.
The 49ers are hurting even more on defense as they prepare to meet the Broncos in Denver Sunday night, with linebacker Patrick Willis now sidelined with a toe injury.
After an impressive performance on Monday Night, the 49ers get to try and keep things going this week against the Broncos. Another good game and the 49ers will have confidence and momentum heading into their week off. A loss though could create some doubt in a team still fighting for its playoff life.
Next up for the 2014 Oakland Raiders: the Arizona Cardinals, the team currently leading the tough NFC West with a 4-1 record this season. The Cardinals aren't a dominating team, however, and if the Silver & Black can play well for a second week in a row for once, they may have a shot at the upset at the Coliseum.
Peyton Manning is seen as one of, if not, the greatest quarterback to play in the NFL. After the five-time MVP's performance against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, it is fitting to remember why Manning is so loved by fans, non-fans, and those within the league.
The Oakland Raiders have a new head coach, for now, and they've just had their bye week. How will they fare against the 4-1 San Diego Chargers at home this week? Well, the Bolts are on a roll, and they look very good. The exact opposite can be said of Silver & Black, so don't expect things to suddenly get better for Oakland now that Dennis Allen has been fired.
Including Sunday's Week Five action, the San Diego Chargers are 4-1, the Denver Broncos are 3-1, and the Kansas City Chiefs are 2-3. Each team has a positive points differential, while the Oakland Raiders are 0-4 with a minus-52 differential. Yes, it's going to be a long season for the Silver & Black.
It's Week 5 of the NFL and Coach Madden told KCBS about some of the more intriguing matchups.
Diehard fans may want to close their eyes: with an 0-2 start and staring at possible 0-6 start now, the Oakland Raiders will be hard-pressed to avoid two ugly fates in 2014: they could end up worse than the 4-12 record they posted last year, and they could end up as the worst team in the NFL.
Let's take a look at the five best teams in the NFL heading into the 2014 season.
The 49ers debut at Levi's Stadium has set many fans into panic mode after being blown out 34-0 by the Denver Broncos in an exhibition game at the hands of MVP Peyton Manning. This is following last Sunday's 23-3 loss in the exhibition opener at Baltimore.
