Automakers Hyundai and Kia have reached a settlement with dozens of states over anti-theft technology in models of their vehicles.
Kia is recalling roughly a quarter-million K5 sedans with a defect that could lead their fuel tanks to melt, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says.
The affected vehicles are the Kia Niro from 2023-2025, Niro EV from 2023-2025 and the Niro plug-in hybrid from 2023-2025.
Car dealers will inspect and replace the control unit and a fuse if needed, as well as update software.
