Stifling Temperatures Sear The Southland
Temperatures reached the triple digits in much of the San Fernando Valley and 92 in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday but forecasters predict slightly lower afternoon temperatures for Friday.

Temperatures reached the triple digits in much of the San Fernando Valley and 92 in downtown Los Angeles on Thursday but forecasters predict slightly lower afternoon temperatures for Friday.
The high pressure from the east will continue to expand over the next several days. Look for some warmer weather Wednesday then a little cooler on Thursday before the high pressure takes over this weekend.
It's a decent start to what will be a warm work week. Temperatures will remain on the mild side Monday and Tuesday.
Expect some slight warming inland with a little less marine layer Friday. However, daytime highs will be pretty close to Thursday's at or just a little below average.
We are nestled between an area of low pressure in the Pacific and a ridge of high pressure to the east keeping temperatures running about 5 to 6 degrees below average.
A strong on-shore flow with the weakening high pressure is helping to bring temperatures down for the next few days. Look for clearing Wednesday afternoon, with hazy sunshine.
After Monday's muggy weather, expect a bit of a change Tuesday. The monsoonal flow has diminished a bunch and that will bring more sunshine through the day.
There's a surge of monsoonal moisture streaming through Southern California, and it is translating into mostly cloudy skies and a chance for showers and thunderstorms.
Enjoy the cooler temperatures Thursday before things heat up again.
There are only minor changes to the forecast Tuesday. Look for slightly cooler basin temperatures, however it will still be pretty warm for inland cities.
Expect a slight warm-up and increased humidity Friday. Temperatures will be in the 90s for the valleys, 100s for the deserts. In the basin, basically mid-80s and upper 70s by the beach.
We still remain in this somewhat stagnate pattern. Clouds were well entrenched this morning, but the sun is finally shining.
The marine layer continues to run at about 1800' deep.
Expect some unsettled weather the next couple of days. Tuesday should be the coolest of the week, then it will gradually warm up.
