"We started to run but we encountered this young woman who was screaming out 'I'm never going to see my babies again'. And as a mom I couldn't leave her," Melissa Coffey says.
The incident was caught on the security cameras of the ARCO on the 600 block of North Western Avenue in Hollywood, where a woman can be seen casually walking out with a case of beer.
Officers on patrol spotted suspicious activity in an area where there have been recent burglaries just after 11 p.m. and confronted the two men, one of whom fired a shot. None of the officers returned fire.
Police were called to a shooting at a magistrate's office in Fayette County Wednesday afternoon.
