The explosion caused a fire that was contained to one apartment in the 800 block of South Ardmore Avenue in Koreatown.
A man was shot in the head. Following the shooting, an LAPD patrol car which was helping to block traffic was struck by another vehicle in an unrelated accident.

After being shot, the man ran into the Liquor & Food Mart, 4655 Beverly Blvd., to get help. The employees inside the store called 911, but the man died after being taken to a hospital.
