A 3.3 magnitude earthquake was confirmed near Lerna, Illinois, late Monday night. The earthquake, confirmed by the United States Geological Survey, was reported in Coles County SSW of Lerna, Illinois which is close to Effingham, Illinois.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake's epicenter was roughly 15 miles south of New Mexico's border with Texas.
Over 100 aftershocks were felt after the quake. The Turkish health ministry says around 230 people were injured, but many more chose to flee the city in case the aftershocks turned more violent.
