Approximately 11% of women diagnosed with breast cancer are under the age of 40. The number continues to rise. According to a recent report from the American Cancer Society, that number keeps growing.
October is dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer, the most common cancer diagnosed in women in the U.S. outside of skin cancers. As part of the mission to raise awareness, a Chicago nonprofit is teaming up with local restaurants to raise money for breast cancer treatment and prevention.
It was devised by Cook County Commissioner Bill Lowry, a prostate cancer survivor.
