Big-rig crash near downtown Los Angeles leaves 1 dead, several injured

Nicaela Hernandez, 31, allegedly shot and killed another woman inside of a residence.
Authorities said the closure was lifted by 10:30 a.m.
A 16-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
The body was found at about 5 p.m. Thursday.
The crash was reported before 3 p.m.
A man was pronounced dead at a local hospital, while another was in at least critical condition, authorities said.
Jacob Alexander Demmin, 25, of Yorba Linda, was still employed at Ultimate Ninjas Gym in Anaheim Hills at the time of his arrest, authorities said.
No suspect was in custody as of 4 p.m.
The crash took place at about 5:44 a.m. Tuesday.
Evacuation orders have been issued to some homes in burn scar areas from many recent wildfires.
The 2026 season will mark the first without the game, except for pauses for World War II and the Covid-19 pandemic, since 1926.
The heaviest rainfall is expected between Tuesday and Wednesday, Christmas Eve.
Others were left with burn injuries, authorities said.
The collision was between a semi-truck and a sedan, the CHP said.
