Child shot at splash pad improving: Sheriff
Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard gave an update Monday on the Rochester Hills, Michigan, splash pad shooting investigation. Nine people were wounded Sunday, including two children, when a man opened fire at the Brooklands Plaza splash pad before taking his life. Bouchard said a child shot in the head is improving, and that no clear motive for the shooting has been uncovered.
Violent weekend across the U.S.
Over the weekend, two people were killed at a Juneteenth celebration in Round Rock, Texas. Nine were wounded, including two children, at a Rochester Hills, Michigan, splash pad, and in Methuen, Massachusetts, seven people were shot at a pop-up party. Supreme Court invalidates ban on bump stocks

$2 million settlement reached in Uvalde shooting
Nearly two years after 19 students and two teachers were killed by a gunman at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, the families of the victims reached a $2 million settlement with the city. Victims' families on Wednesday also announced a $500 million federal lawsuit against 92 officers with the Texas Department of Public Safety who were part of the failed response by law enforcement on the day of the shooting, along with the school's former principal and the district's former police chief.
