How athletes stay in shape for 2021 Olympics

In the "CBS This Morning" series Pushing the Limits, Nancy Chen looks at the fate of thousands of athletes who were training for the Olympic trials when the COVID-19 pandemic hit. The summer games were postponed until 2021. What's happened since has tested their limits in every way. Chen spoke with athletes vying for a spot on Team USA, including two former Olympians -- gymnast Laurie Hernandez and fencer Daryl Homer -- as well as first-time Olympic hopeful Kyle Merber. She takes a look at how these athletes have had to develop a different kind of strength.

Correspondent Martha Teichner talks with health officials about the public's response to the coronavirus, and examines how the federal government's leadership during a health crisis has been marred by the fingerprints of politics and the dynamics of an election calendar.

Chefs work to grow diversity in the industry

Baltimore native Jared Howard's Honey Bunny's Chicken, is still a concept in the making -- but his success story during the COVID-19 pandemic has beat the odds already. He and other Black restauranteurs have partnered with Chef Greg Baxtrom, who opened the doors of his Brooklyn restaurant Maison Yaki to be used as a pop-up for their culinary brands and grow diversity in an industry that has lacked it. Michelle Miller speaks to Howard and Baxtrom.

Fauci on return to normal

Six months after most of the U.S. began locking down, coronavirus cases are on the rise in 20 states. On Friday, more than 47,000 new cases were reported, bringing the country's total number of infections to nearly 6.5 million. While more and more states are taking steps to reopen, Dr. Anthony Fauci is warning that it may be another year before things return to normal. Michael George takes a look at how several states are forging ahead despite the risks of the virus.
