Senate Democrats reach infrastructure deal

Senate Democrats say they have agreed on a $3.5 trillion infrastructure plan which they aim to pass through budget reconciliation, meaning no GOP votes are needed if all Democrats are onboard. The mammoth bill would include most of President Biden's original proposals on climate, health care and child care – but could imperil the narrower bipartisan infrastructure deal. CBS News correspondent Laura Podesta reports on the latest on "CBSN AM," and CBS News political reporter Grace Segers joins with analysis.

In Virginia's Democratic gubernatorial primary election on Tuesday, five candidates are competing to challenge Republican nominee Glenn Youngkin in the race to succeed Governor Ralph Northam. One of the candidates, Virginia Delegate Lee Carter, joins CBSN's Lana Zak to discuss some of his progressive policy proposals, including a plan to use newly legalized cannabis sales to fund reparations for Black and indigenous communities, and why he wants to "own the label" as a self-proclaimed socialist.

A new CBS News poll finds 53 percent of Americans disapprove of the Republican tax plan. Most say the bill will benefit large corporations and wealthy Americans, but only 31 percent think it will help middle class Americans. Independent Sen.
